WHY DIET AND EXERCISE FAIL

Most diet and exercise books are pure fluff or thinly veiled pieces that promote a line of useless supplements. Rarely is there a book that takes on the real causes.

If your health and wellness is important to you, I recommend:

WHY DIET AND EXERCISE FAIL by Daniel Matthew Korn.

The author methodically weaves through the [...]

ARE FAT PEOPLE HATED?

Newsweek has an interesting article about the anti-fat rhetoric that is said to be growing in America. And if it’s happening in America, it’ll soon be happening around the world.
 http://www.newsweek.com/id/213646
I do not hate fat people. But I do have enormous disdain for fat parents who over-feed their kids because they can’t face certain issues [...]

USDA also calls for “Transparency”

This is more double talk because the agency called in to audit the activities of the USDA is another federal agency. That’s like asking one drunk to keep an eye on another.
The Washington Post has some details:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/07/AR2009080703650.html?wprss=rss_health
Small farmers are rightfully concerned that the “organic” label is being bought by Big Food. This audit is supposed [...]

FDA Establishes Transparency Task Force

More bureaucratic nonsense. Big Pharma will never allow anything close to legitimate transparency. It’s more like smoke and mirrors transparency.
 http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm163899.htm
What’s most irritating about this press release is that the recommendations outlined are excellent and if actually followed through on, would make the FDA a trustworthy entity.
But it’s all bullshit. It’s as if someone at the [...]

4 EXERCISES IN 4 MINUTES CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

I’ve been doing this fast routine every morning (six days a week) for years. Notice I didn’t say easy, because it can be made to be challenging at any fitness level.
1. 25 Jumping Jacks
2. 25 Push Ups
3. 25 Squats
4. 25 Leg Lifts
(And if you do 75 more push ups throughout the day, you’ll be in [...]

Dr. Nancy Snyderman of NBC gets Mediterranean Diet all wrong

Several readers called me after seeing this link and said in sum, “Dr. Nancy Snyderman said on the Today Show that chicken and red meat are NOT part of the Mediterranean Diet. But you say they are. Who’s right?”
I am. She’s flat out wrong. She’s speaking from a journalistic/medical viewpoint while she sits her ass down [...]

WARNING TO PREGNANT WOMEN: MONSANTO POISONS CENTRAL PARK

I saw several signs yesterday along Fifth Avenue that warned of the imminent spraying of herbicides in Central Park.
At 4:30am, this was quite enough to piss me off in a big way.
The poison in question was Glyphosate, the active toxin in Roundup, the flagship product of Monsanto.  The flyer went on to caution [...]

FITNESS RESCUE 911

We created FITNESS RESCUE 911 when it became grossly apparent that entire families were falling deep into wellness crisis. It was no longer a case of one family member being unhealthy while the others tried to encourage him or her to take better care of themselves. While this situation still exists, the far more common [...]

GLOBAL WELLNESS

The world is fat and getting fatter every day. This while 20% of the earth’s population starves to death. This imbalance threatens our existence as a race. For those with the resources and the where-with-all to address this crisis, there is a moral imperative to act. This is not a “me” issue, it is a [...]

Water, bottled or tap?

Water, Water, Water!
How many glasses a day? Bottled or tap? Plastic bottle or stainless steel/glass container? Information flows from all sources on water, the substance that is most crucial to sustaining life.
Drink at least 10 glasses a day, more if you labor outside, more if you’re pregnant. Drink a glass of water as soon as [...]
